Ministries Outreach A main part of our church purpose is to reach out to people with the Gospel of Christ. We support long-term and short-term missionaries locally and in at least seven foreign countries. Many of these missionaries work through the
Mennonite Brethren Mission and Services International (MBMSI). We are very committed to helping plant new Mennonite Brethren churches in California and other states. We
have a strong commitment to share Christ and minister to human need in our
local community. Some of the local ministries we support are Open Gate
Ministries, Community Youth Ministries (CYM), Youth For Christ, and the Dinuba
Ministerial Association. We also
minister to human need beyond our community through Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) and Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).
Small Groups Equipping the saints for the work of the ministry is a desired goal of this church. Our small group settings and classes nurture the learning and maturing process. This helps us to better understand our God and His desire for our lives. For a more relaxed environment we have various types of small groups that meet throughout the week, such as basketball, volleyball, and
women's Bible study.
Adults
The small group ministry at DMBC is an essential part to the overall ministry of the church. Within the small group setting one can find support and encouragement. Our groups meet on
various nights with a variety of subjects, including women's and men's Bible
studies, GriefShare, and Alpha (introduction to the Christian faith).
Youth
The youth ministry at Dinuba Mennonite Brethren Church is designed to complement the family unit by helping meet the needs of junior high, high school and college young people. We meet together to learn how to know God better through Jesus Christ, to learn how the Bible relates to our lives, to worship, to have fun, and to learn to love and respect one another.
Throughout the year we have special mission outings, (inner city, Mexico, etc.), winter and summer camps, and retreats.
Regular Activities
- Sunday School (9:45-10:40 a.m.): Junior High, High School
- Sunday evening (6:00-7:30 p.m.): High School
- Wednesday evening (6:30-8:00 p.m.): Junior High
Children
We know that working with children takes special patience, energy, insight, and creativity. Our excellent staff of volunteer teachers, sponsors and helpers wants children to come into a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus. We sing, we have fun, we learn to love one another, and most of all we learn to love Jesus.
Music In our music ministry we seek to nurture musical development and service at all age levels in an atmosphere of love and caring. We believe in using a variety of music in our worship. Drama is also incorporated throughout our music ministry with all ages. The Sanctuary Choir (10:45 service) offers singers and instrumentalists the opportunity to participate in leading worship each Sunday morning. Combining music and drama, they present special programs for Christmas, Easter and special occasions. Children's Choir
rehearses weekly and sings several times during the year. Men's Chorus and Ladies' Ensembles sing several times throughout the year, and rehearsals are scheduled as needed. Other vocal and instrumental groups (including Hand Bell Choir) are also available and participate as opportunities arise.
Special Events
Throughout the year we have special events held by our women's groups,
missionary fellowships, and Sunday School groups. We offer marriage
enrichment opportunities, membership classes for both adults and children,
recovery groups (grief, anxiety, depression, etc.) of various types, and other small group meetings. Sunday School (9:45-10:30 a.m.): We offer classes for college age on up. We group classes together by age and need. Elective classes are offered on a need basis. Wednesday Bible Study (6:30-7:30 p.m.),
Sunday Evening Enrichment (Sunday evenings in fall through spring 6:00-7:30
p.m.) and various other week-night groups. Special Evangelistic events
(Summer Celebration) give each of us an extra opportunity to reach out to our
community. |
